Oilers superfan Ben Stelter is already looking to next year’s playoff run.
Ben is a six-year-old battling brain cancer who quickly became an icon for Edmonton fans, a good luck charm and a heartwarming presence for the team.
He captured the hearts of hockey fans everywhere as he cheered on the Oilers from close and far.
He watched the deep playoff run from Rogers Place, got to hang out with some of the players before and after games, and even developed a friendship with captain Connor McDavid.

Ben was also featured on an Upper Deck hockey card alongside his idol.
So when the Oilers were swept in the Western Conference final by the Colorado Avalanche – ending Canada’s hope of securing a Stanley Cup this year – Ben would certainly have been disappointed.
Ben wanted to make a video for the @EdmontonOilers last night. Good try Oilers, we’ll get em next year! This was so much fun! Thank you for all of the love for Ben! To us, this is the best franchise in sports with a great group of guys and girls on and off the ice! #Yeg pic.twitter.com/7kC92FBC26

But the off-ice Oilers star was full of optimism in a short video posted to Twitter by Ben’s father, Mike Stelter.
“Good try Oilers. We’ll get ‘em next year,” Ben says in the video while decked out in blue and orange Oilers gear.
