“Police, Fire Rescue and EMS provided first aid on scene, and paramedics treated and transported the youth to hospital. Sadly, the youth succumbed to his injuries yesterday,” said Edmonton police in a statement.
“On behalf of the Edmonton Police Service, I’d like to thank the community for assisting us through this complex investigation,” Homicide Unit Staff-Sgt. Colin Leathem says. “This tragedy has affected so many, but this is not a time for anger or hatred – this is a time to grieve and heal as a community.”
Leathem says the Crime and Trauma-Informed Support Services team is working with the Edmonton Public School Board to offer support to anyone affected by the incident.
