The 17-year-old girl was airlifted to the University of Alberta Hospital in Edmonton Monday but was declared dead shortly before 3 p.m.

Bob Young, the mayor of Leduc, says all schools in the area were locked down following the stabbing Monday morning.
“When you think of what the family must be going through, you think of the staff and students and the teachers. I was a teacher for 36 years and I just can’t imagine what having an incident like this at your school, what it would do to you.”
He says it happened at the Christ the King School, which has about 350 students in grades 9 to 12.
