Olivia and Noah top baby names in Alberta for 2019

CALGARY (660 NEWS) – Alberta’s top baby names for 2019 have been released and there are some familiar names at the top.
For the seventh year in a row, Olivia remains the most popular girls’ name, with Noah taking the top spot for the boys.
Other popular names on the list include Liam, Sophia, Ethan and Emma.
“One of the most memorable moments for me as a new father was when my wife and I chose the name for our son last fall. Choosing a name for your child is fun and exciting,” said Minister of Service Alberta Nate Glubish.
“I want to congratulate all new parents in Alberta and reassure them, as well as Albertans expecting a child in the near future, that we are working every day to make sure your children have a great future in a strong Alberta.”

Nearly 14,000 different names were recorded in Alberta last year. Many were inspired by pop culture with many babies named after characters from Game of Thrones, The Lord of The Rings and the Marvel movies.
Some of those included Khaleesi, Arwen, and Loki which all appeared on the 2019 list.
Other names referencing various mythologies were also popular with Albertans, including Artemis, Mars and Zeus.
