Lethbridge School Division publishes re-entry brief for fall

CALGARY (660 NEWS) – The Lethbridge School Division is trying to put parents at ease by announcing potential COVID-19 safety precautions if school resumes in the fall.

The school division released a brief outlining what re-entry would look like for the 2020-21 school year.

The plan is to reduce class sizes that work on rotating schedules for students in order to facilitate social distancing, while also increasing sanitation and personal hygiene measures. They are also finding ways to blend at-home and in-class learning.

The release also acknowledged that students, parents and staff have all been dealing with the stressful circumstances of the COVID-19 pandemic for the past three months.

“The re-entry plan for the Lethbridge School Division is based on assumptions that may change,” read the brief. “It is recognized that the lack of clear direction and assuredness for the fall is stressful and unsettling.”

Last month, Alberta Education Minister Adriana LaGrange said the provincial government is considering three different scenarios for schools in the fall: full reopening, partial reopening with restrictions, or full closure with students continuing at-home learning.
