Shots fired at RCMP during traffic stop, suspects apprehended

EDMONTON (CITYNEWS) – Three suspects are in custody after allegedly firing shots at High Prairie RCMP officers early Sunday morning.

Officers were responding to a traffic complaint around 2 a.m. when shots were fired in their direction, RCMP said in a release.

No RCMP members were injured.

The three suspects then fled the scene. They were later apprehended and are currently in custody.

RCMP recovered the suspects’ vehicle abandoned at the Elk Rodeo Grounds with several firearms inside.

High Prairie is roughly four hours northwest of Edmonton.
