Three dead in Sherwood Park murder-suicide

SHERWOOD PARK (660 NEWS) – Three members of a family and their dog were found dead after police were called to a property in Strathcona County Monday.
After reports of a man with a firearm, the area around a residence on Range Road 222 was contained and the nearby residences evacuated.
RCMP say a 55-year old woman and a 13-year old girl were killed and a 53-year old man took his own life.
“Because the RCMP does not anticipate that this incident will result in criminal charges, we are limited in the information that we can provide to the public,” said Superintendent Dave Kalist, Detachment Commander of Strathcona County RCMP in a release.
Mounties are not releasing the names of the victims, citing Federal Privacy Legislation.
