Edmonton rail protestors issued emergency injunction

EDMONTON (660 NEWS) – An emergency injunction was issued and read out to those behind a blockade that popped up on a CN Rail line in Edmonton this morning.

Protesters saying they’re showing solidarity with Wet’suwet’en hereditary chiefs opposing a natural gas pipeline were preventing trains moving through the area this morning.

This was the first such blockade in Alberta.

CN Police showed up to read out the injunction after CN Rail got an emergency court order this afternoon.

Most of the protestors have since left the area.
