Survey finds Canadian workers stressed by long commutes

VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – Many Canadian employees are stressed out before they even arrive at work.

A new survey from staffing firm Robert Half finds that more than a third of Canadian professionals find travelling to and from work is stressful, and a fraction more find it’s too long. That’s up from one in four two years ago.

The average commute of those surveyed was 53 minutes. More than a quarter of Canadians say their travel time exceeds an hour each way.

The survey looked at 500 workers 18 and over who worked in office environments, as well as more than 600 managers.

Some said the company they worked for had flexible hours and off-peak commute options, which the firm says makes a difference in levels of employee stress.
