Edmonton man asleep at home wakes up to gunshot wound; police seek footage

Police are turning to the public for help in their investigation of a northeast Edmonton shooting more than a year ago.

The Edmonton Police Service says a man reported being asleep in his home near 34 Street and Abbottsfield Road on March 30, 2025, when he woke up to a non-life-threatening injury.

The man went to a medical facility with what turned out to be a gunshot wound.

“This resident has no criminal involvement, and his residence is not known to police,” said Det. Andrew Furman. “This incident emphasizes the inherent danger to innocent bystanders when shootings take place, and we are grateful that his injuries were not more severe or fatal.”

Edmonton police say they have exhausted all efforts to gather information about the shooting.

They are urging anyone with home security or dash cam video from the area that morning around 5-6 a.m. to come forward.
