OTTAWA (NEWS 1130) — As Hurricane Dorian batters the Bahamas and barrels toward the east coast of Florida, Canadians are being told to avoid all travel to those destinations.
Hurricane Dorian struck the northern Bahamas Sunday, its record 185 mph winds ripping off roofs, overturning cars and tearing down power lines as hundreds hunkered down in schools, churches and shelters.
It’s expected to make landfall in Florida Monday. The state has issued mandatory and voluntary evacuations for many of the coastal communities and President Donald Trump has declared a state of emergency.
The Canadian government has issued a pair of official warnings.
