VANCOUVER (NEWS 1130) – It’s the end of an era. After 8 seasons and 73 episodes Game of Thrones is over, with the last episode Sunday night leaving fans split.
No spoilers ahead, although there was one big death (which you should expect by now).
The finale not satisfying some, scoring 57 per cent on Rotten Tomatoes but fairing worse on social media with fans not hiding their disappointment.
“I hate you. I wasted 73 hours of my life for this,” tweeted one fan.
What a waste of time. Worst than the finale of Lost. I wish I’d never seen the show. I wish I could get back the time I wasted on the books. Absolutely terrible.

“This was terrible. This could have been so much better. One of the worst finales ever!” wrote another.
And one fan simply asked, “Did the writers just give up?”

To make matters worse, pictures posted by fans show what appears to be a plastic water bottle in one of the scenes. The gaffe comes just two weeks after a coffee cup was spotted in episode four of the season.

But some have come to the show’s defence.
“Thank you for 8 exhilarating, heart-breaking & beautiful seasons of the best TV ever made!” tweeted one fan.
The show is based on George R. R. Martin’s best selling fantasy drama book series, which isn’t done yet. Two more books are expected in the series, which may be one of the reason’s fans of the TV show are underwhelmed by the finale.
Although the end doesn’t necessarily mean the end. Sharp-eyed viewers say a number of hints in the finale point to a potential spin-off so, winter may come again.
