EDMONTON (CityNews) – A United Conservative Party (UCP) staffer has quit, due to comments made in the past by Jason Kenney
Thursday in the legislature, Cody Johnston went to reporters and announced he is leaving the UCP, with a letter stating he “cannot stand behind a leader who has such backward views on the basic human right to love.”
It’s in reference to comments Kenney made in 2000 when he bragged about overturning a law in San Francisco that allowed gay men to visit their partners suffering from AIDS in hospitals.
Johnston said he is now joining the Freedom Conservative Party which was started by former UCP MLA Derek Fildebrandt.
