Survey reveals Albertans spend less, budget more

CALGARY (660 NEWS) – It appears some Albertans will not be big spenders this holiday season.

According to a Leger survey for the Retail Council of Canada, 26% of people in this province will stick to a budget, compared to 20% nationally.

Senior Retail Advisor Michael Leblanc said Albertans are also spending a little less than the rest of Canada.

“The national average is $675 and in Alberta, it’s $622, so really it’s not that much different, slightly lower than the national average,” said Leblanc.

Another interesting finding; 38 per cent of Albertans do some research before holiday shopping, compared to 47 per cent of Canadians.
