Charges laid in Amber Alert

EDMONTON (CITYNEWS) – Edmonton Police have laid charges Friday’s Amber Alert.

Friday afternoon, around 2:40, a suspect approached a 14-year-old girl near a school on 84 Street and 105 Avenue.

Witnesses told police that the girl hesitantly got into the suspect’s vehicle and an amber alert was issued for the teen.

She was found unharmed with the accused, who was arrested at 97 Street and 118 Avenue.

Jacques Sennesael, 47, has been charged with kidnapping with firearm, possession of an offensive weapon, intimidation, use of a firearm while attempting an indictable offence, two counts of possession for the purpose of trafficking, and theft under $5,000.

Police say Sennesael and the girl knew each other. The Child Protection Section continues to investigate.
