First Nation, NDP blast government over AI project

The Chief of Sturgeon Lake Cree Nation is accusing the Alberta government of trying to skirt Treaty rights and offering token consultation. As Sean Amato reports, the government has refused to answer CityNews’ questions on the matter for a month. Editor’s note: After publication, on Feb. 18, a spokesperson Alberta’s Ministry of Indigenous Affairs told CityNews in a statement that Minister Rick Wilson responded to Chief Sheldon Sunshine in a letter Feb. 15, and is working to coordinate an in-person meeting.
