Mandatory evacuation in High Level
Residents of a northern Alberta town are being told to evacuate as an out-of-control wildfire continues to grow.
The evacuation order has been issued in the town of High Level and surrounding areas due to wildfire threat.
A state of local emergency is now in effect for Mackenzie county.
The Chuckegg Creek fire has grown due to strong winds, and is now approximately 69- thousand hectares. The wildfire is located about 5 km south of high level. Approximately 4,000 residents are being told to leave their homes. Crews are going door to door to notify people.
