Know before you go: Elks host West Final for first time in a decade

It’s been a long time coming, but the Edmonton Elks are hosting a playoff game for the first time since they hosted the West Final in 2015.

Saturday, the (13-4) Elks will host the (10-8) BC Lions in the 2026 West Final at Commonwealth Stadium. The game is set to kickoff at 5:30 p.m., and the City of Edmonton says there’s some things you need to know if you’re planning on attending the game in person.

Gates will open at 4:30 p.m., and it is November, so best check the weather before you make your way to the stadium, and dress accordingly.

Fans are encouraged not to bring bags. Commonwealth Stadium does have a clear bag policy, and all bags may be searched. The City adds that bags that are clear plastic, vinyl or PVC and do not exceed 12″ x 12” x 6″, as well as small clutch bags that are not clear, but do not exceed 4.5″ x 6.5″ are permitted. Fans without bags will get through security faster.

Fans are also encouraged to take transit to the stadium. Valid game tickets can be shown as proof of payment when boarding any Park & Ride shuttle, ETS bus or LRT from two hours before the game starts until two hours after it ends. Fans with valid tickets will not need to tap Arc cards.

Additionally, a dedicated shuttle will be taking fans from the EXPO Centre directly to and from Commonwealth Stadium.

There will be no parking at Commonwealth Stadium, and parking restrictions will be in effect in surrounding neighbourhoods.

The last Edmonton home playoff game was a 45-31 win over the Calgary Stampeders in the 2015 West Final. The Edmonton would go on to win the Grey Cup 26-20 over the Ottawa Redblacks.
