Imitation firearm briefly places Edmonton school on lockdown

Edmonton police say an imitation firearm forced Ross Sheppard School to be put on lockdown on Friday.
EPS says around 12:30 p.m., officers responded to the school after receiving a report regarding a possible weapon.
While investigating the matter, police were able to find an imitation firearm.
No injuries were reported, and police note that no arrests have been made.
The lockdown at the school has since been lifted.
“Imitation guns can appear very real, and people, including police, can’t tell the difference. The EPS continues to remind the public of our campaign: Fake Gun, Real Danger,” said EPS in a statement to CityNews.
