Man, 56, hospitalized with serious injuries after multi-vehicle collision in southeast Edmonton

Four vehicles, including a school bus, were involved in a collision in an industrial area of southeast Edmonton on Monday afternoon.
According to Edmonton Police Service (EPS), the collision happened around 12:30 p.m. when a westbound scrap truck on 76 Avenue collided with a school bus travelling southbound on 34 Street.
“The scrap truck ran the red light and collided with the southbound school bus,” EPS told CityNews in an email. The school bus did not have children at the time of the collision.
The school bus sustained damage to its front and side.
Two other vehicles which were stopped at the red light were also impacted by the collision.
The driver of the scrap truck, a 56-year-old man, was taken to hospital by paramedics with serious but non-life threatening injuries.
The three other drivers, including a 40-year-old woman who was driving the school bus suffered minor injuries, police said.
Speed and alcohol are not considered to be factors.
The intersection was closed as a result of the crash, and motorists were asked to seek alternate routes.
