Man dead after drowning in Ponoka’s Centennial Pond: RCMP

Alberta RCMP say a 62-year-old man has died after drowning in the Centennial Pond in Ponoka, Alta.

Mounties responded to a report that a man was calling for help in the middle of the pond around 9:50 p.m. on July 16.

Emergency crews responded immediately, and speaking to witnesses at the scene, they learned that the man had gone under the water and had not resurfaced.

In the morning of July 17, search and rescue were able to find the man’s body and confirmed it was a 62-year-old man from Ponoka.
