Parker Missing Day 7: Abandoned homes, new video, update on search

Calgary police are putting a spotlight on where 11-year-old Parker Wells may have to vanished to and could be hiding.

“We’re asking that any realtors  or any landlords that are aware  of vacant properties,  check them and check them again,” Acting Staff Sgt. Scott Guterson told Wednesday news conference, “We know that Parker was mobile and just because a particular address checked negative at a certain time and date, doesn’t mean that Parker could not be there now.”

“We are far  from believing that Parker must be dead.  We still believe there is a strong hope that he is alive  and I see no reason to abandon that.”

Police put forth a list of streets of note in which they want to know if properties are vacant or their owners are on vacation: Travis St. NE,  Travis Crescent NE,  Trail Drive NE,  Taylor Crescent NE, Travis Place NE, and Thomas St. NE.

“We’re asking that  over certain addresses, if there are vacant homes or if neighbours are aware of other people, other neighbours who are on holidays or not in those homes, they contact those property owners and have them call us,” Guterson said, adding, “if Parker was in an abandoned home,  is it our, it’s our understanding that he would be able to use the tap to get water  and he would know to use the fridge to get food.”

Police are asking for permission to go into homes to look for Parker based on the residence’s location and it’s proximity to “point last known.”

Police detail extensive search

Despite an extensive search operation for 11-year-old Parker Wells in Calgary, authorities say the boy remains missing as the search operation continued into the seventh day Wednesday.

In a statement, Calgary police say “since day one, our officers, specialized units & volunteer search & rescue partners have worked tirelessly, searching by land, air & water in every effort to bring Parker home. Despite these extensive searches, Parker remains missing… Please keep Parker & his family in your thoughts as we continue working together to find him & bring him home.”

Guterson says they followed up more than 400 tips, and captured more than a thousand individual video clips  from over 150 different locations thus far. 

” We remain absolutely committed in our efforts to find Parker,” Guterson said, “I cannot recall a time in the city where a missing child  has been missing for this long, which is why we’re ramping up our efforts.

Police also released a video Wednesday showing search efforts.

Calgary police add they’re asking the community for continued assistance.

“Please take a few moments to thoroughly check your property, including yards, sheds, garages, vehicles & basements; anywhere someone could potentially seek shelter or remain unnoticed. If you know an elderly neighbour or someone who may need assistance, please help them check their property as well. We also ask realtors, landlords & property management companies to inspect vacant homes, rental units & other unoccupied properties. Every search matters.”

Support offered to community

“..We recognize the emotional toll  that this has  put on the community  of Thorncliffe specifically and the larger community of Calgary,” Guterson said Wednesday. Police set up their victim assistance unit over the afternoon until 6 p.m at the Thorncliffe community “to provide support  and resources to any member of the community  who is interested.  We also recognize that this search has affected Calgarians  so we are asking anyone who needs any sort of support because of this event call 211, the Calgary Distress Centre.”

Parker, who is non-verbal, was last seen Thursday, July 16 at his care home in Calgary’s north end.

Meanwhile, CPS also released a video about details to consider when searching your property, saying “what might not make sense to you could make sense to Parker.”

Parker’s last known whereabouts

Parker was last seen at his day home in the 0-100 block of Connaught Drive N.W. sometime between 11:08 a.m. and 11:41 a.m. Thursday. He was shirtless and wearing grey shorts, black Skechers shoes and black noise-cancelling headphones.

Parker is described as being 4-foot-11, weighing approximately 90 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes.

Meanwhile, a map of Parker’s known and believed route on Thursday, July 16, 2026 was released Tuesday, which outlines his confirmed movements captured on CCTV.

Police say the numbered points don’t identify a specific location of CCTV submission, but mark points where it’s believed his route shifted.

Earlier this week, Calgary Police released more CCTV footage of Parker.

They say it was captured on Thursday, July 16 at approximately 12:47 p.m. near McKnight Boulevard and Centre Street N.W.

This footage was taken just minutes before previously released video from Thorncliffe and helps police further establish Parker’s movements that day.

Police are asking anyone in the Thorncliffe area who has CCTV footage from July 16 to Monday to submit it, even if Parker does not appear in the footage in attempts to identify travel routes.

Search efforts have focused on the communities of Cambrian Heights, Thorncliffe, North Haven, North Haven Upper, Highwood, Highland Park, Greenview, Greenview Industrial Park, Nose Hill Park and surrounding areas.

Anyone with information about Parker’s whereabouts, or who may have CCTV or dashcam footage, is asked to contact Calgary police at 403-266-1234 or submit information through the online portal.
