Baby, toddler dead after Central Alberta house fire

A tragedy has unfolded near a small community in rural Alberta. A baby is confirmed dead, but a toddler remains unaccounted for after a house fire. James Dunn with the details.

A baby toddler are dead following a house fire in Central Alberta on Thursday afternoon.

The fire broke out Thursday around noon at a home along Township Road 482 in Brazeau County, just north of the Village of Breton, about an hour southwest of Edmonton.

Officers arrived to find a woman and two children had escaped the home, but a baby and toddler were still inside.

The body of an 11-month-old was found at the scene. The toddler was initially unaccounted for, but police said
late Friday that the child had been found dead.

Investigators are still trying to determine the cause of the fire.
