RCMP in central Alberta say one baby and a toddler have died after a house fire in Brazeau County.

The fire broke out Thursday around noon just north of the Village of Breton, about an hour southwest of Edmonton.

A woman and two children managed to escape, but with the house fully engulfed, firefighters weren’t able to rescue the two children inside.

The bodies of an 11-month-old a two-year-old were recovered at the scene.

So far, RCMP say it appears the fire is not suspicious, but investigators are trying to determine a cause.
