Man, 27, killed in collision on Anthony Henday Drive in south Edmonton

A fatal collision on Anthony Henday Drive in south Edmonton has led to partial closures.

The Edmonton Police Service says the collision happened near 111 Street around 8:30 a.m. on Monday.

All eastbound lanes of the Anthony Henday near 111 Street were closed. Traffic was being diverted onto Heritage Valley Trail.

Police say that a Volkswagen Passat had reportedly broken down in the far right eastbound driving lane of the Anthony Henday when it was struck from behind at highway speed by a Dodge Ram being driven by a 23-year-old male.

EPS says the driver of the Volkswagen, a 27-year-old male, was declared dead at the scene. Paramedics initially treated the driver of the Dodge at the scene before taking him to hospital for precautionary reasons.
