Police release disturbing video of collision between SUV and cyclist

Edmonton police have released video footage of a vehicle believed to have been involved in a hit-and-run earlier this week.
EPS says around 3:20 a.m. on Aug. 4, a 41-year-old man was cycling near 42 Street and 113 Avenue when he was hit by a dark-coloured SUV that had been driving erratically.
Police and paramedics responded to the scene, where the man was treated for non-life-threatening injuries before being taken to the hospital.
While en route to the hospital, the man’s condition worsened, and he remains in hospital in stable condition.
It is believed that following the collision, the SUV drove east on 114 Avenue from 42 Street.
Police were able to obtain video footage from the area around the time of the collision, which they have released.
“It’s incredibly disturbing to see such disregard for life captured on video simply for online entertainment,” says Acting Staff Sergeant Richard Windover of the EPS Traffic Services Branch. “We’re asking anyone who can recognize the voices or identities of the individuals in this video to contact police immediately so we can advance this investigation.”
Despite the video footage, police are unsure of the make and model of the SUV.
EPS also noted that a passenger within the SUV filmed the collision and posted the video to social media.
