Edmonton police say southbound lanes at Connors Road and 98 Avenue have been reopened following a collision.
EPS responded to reports of a collision between a cyclist and a vehicle just before 8 a.m.
“It was reported to police that a 61-year-old cyclist was travelling eastbound on a trail through Millcreek Ravine Park and was crossing Connors Road when he failed to stop as he entered the roadway,” said EPS in a statement to CityNews. “The cyclist braked hard and fell over his handlebars.”
While this was happening, a Honda CRV — which was being operated as an Uber — reportedly tried to avoid the cyclist, but was unable to do so, and hit the cyclist.
Paramedics responded and took the cyclist to hospital with serious, but non-life-threatening injuries.
Police say that speed and alcohol are not believed to be factors in the incident, and an investigation is ongoing.
