Calgary police are investigating two separate fatal incidents on the road that happened on Wednesday in the city's southwest and northwest

      By CityNews Staff

Calgary police say the death of a man who stopped to help a vehicle stuck along Crowchild Trail Wednesday night was a tragic accident.

Investigators say a man driving with a young child in the vehicle pulled over around 8 p.m. to lend a hand to another driver.

“His vehicle unfortunately rolled back — we don’t know how or why it rolled back at this point — but it pinned him, and he succumbed to his injuries at the scene,” explained Staff Sgt. John Guigon.

Several witnesses tried to save the man but were unsuccessful.

      The child wasn’t injured.

The road was closed for several hours.

An investigation into the matter continues.
