Edmonton police looking for man linked to 2 convenience store robberies

Edmonton police are looking for a man responsible for a pair of convenience store robberies.

EPS says around 1:55 a.m. on May 17, officers responded to a report that indicated a man entered a convenience store and asked for cigarettes.

When the employee turned, the man pulled out a machete and demanded cash, then fled after receiving the cash, police say.

Six days later, around 3 a.m. on May 23, EPS received a report that the same man had entered a different convenience store.

In this instance, the man approached the register pulled out a machete, and again demanded cash.

“We are hopeful that someone will recognize the robbery suspect and report him to police,” said Acting Detective Bryce Ottenbreit of the EPS Robbery Section in a statement.

“These types of robberies are especially concerning when a weapon is involved as someone could have been seriously injured.”

Police have described the man as 5’6″ with a slender build, dark hair with no facial hair.

At the time of both incidents, he was wearing a red bandana around his neck, a light blue jacket over a dark blue shirt, dark pants with white stripes down the sides, and light shoes.
