Man charged in connection to fatal house fire in Beacon Heights

The Edmonton Police Service says charges have been laid after a person was found dead at the scene of a fire in north Edmonton’s Beacon Heights neighbourhood early Tuesday morning.
Edmonton Fire Rescue explains crews were called to a home at 37 Street and 121 Avenue shortly before 2:30 a.m.
Firefighters found a body in the basement after extinguishing the blaze, police say.

An autopsy was conducted Wednesday, and the Edmonton Medical Examiner determined that the victim — 35-year-old Renee Marie Larocque — died of smoke inhalation, before noting the manner of her death was a homicide.
EPS say they have since charged 37-year-old Jordan Myles Auger with manslaughter, arson to property showing disregard for human life, and breaching conditions of a release order.
