Man wanted in September murder in northwest Edmonton

Edmonton police are looking for a man believed to be linked to the September 2023 murder of Fred Kolybaba.
EPS say on Sept. 1, 2023, officers responded to a call for assistance from Edmonton Fire Rescue Services, after they found Kolybaba dead inside a home at 132 Street and 133 Avenue.

An autopsy was conducted Sept. 7. At that time police did not reveal the cause and manner of death “for investigative reasons,” but did rule the death as a homicide.
Since, police say 44-year-old Nicholas Alexander Brashko is wanted for murder, arson, and indignity to a body in connection to Kolybaba’s death.
EPS have described Brashko as five-foot-four with a heavy build, and note he may walk with a limp. He is also known to frequent pawn shops.
Brashko is considered to be dangerous. Police are asking if anyone knows his whereabouts, to contact EPS at 780-423-4567 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
