Edmonton police say the autopsy of the man who was found dead inside a burning vehicle in northeast Edmonton last week has been completed.

Just after midnight on Aug. 4, officers were called to assist Edmonton Fire Rescue Services. Firefighters say once the vehicle was extinguished they found the body inside.

Following the autopsy, the Edmonton Medical Examiner was able to determine the manner of death to be a homicide. EPS say despite this, the official cause of death is being withheld for investigation reasons.

In addition, the Edmonton Medical Examiner say the man has not yet been identified.

Through early stages of the investigation, EPS were able to recover video surveillance in the area where the body was found.

Through the footage, police say they were able to identify the vehicle believed to have been used by the suspect(s). The vehicle was confirmed to be a white Chevrolet pickup truck.

Police say it was captured circling the Fraser neighbourhood between the hours of 11:45 p.m. on Aug. 3 and 12:30 a.m. on Aug. 4.

Police are now asking residents and businesses in the area to check their security cameras to see if anyone was running near the scene, which was 146 Avenue and 25 Street.
