Funeral for Edmonton police officers: how to watch, procession route, road closures and more

Monday marks the procession and regimental funeral for Const. Travis Jordan and Const. Brett Ryan, the two Edmonton police officers killed in the line of duty two weeks ago.
CityNews will be livestreaming the procession and funeral here beginning around 11:30 a.m.
Procession
Members of the public are invited to pay their respects along the procession route.
The funeral procession will begin at the Alberta legislature and leave around 11:45 a.m.
Starting on Fortway Drive, the procession will head north along 107 Street. Next, it will turn onto Jasper Avenue before heading north again on 105 Street.
Finally, the procession will turn onto 104 Avenue before continuing onto 102 Street, where it will end in front of Rogers Place.
Members of the public can also watch a livestream of the procession at the Ice District Plaza and Sir Winston Churchill Square.
Road closures
During the procession, road closures will be in place; drivers are encouraged to plan ahead and find alternate routes.
Road closures will begin at 8:30 a.m. with some intersections allowing traffic to cross the procession route. A full road closure will begin for the entire route at 10:45 a.m. with no cross traffic at intersections permitted.
The procession route – with the exception of 104 Avenue between 101 Street to 105 Street – will reopen at 1 p.m. Later, 104 Avenue between 101 Street to 105 Street will reopen at 5 p.m.
Due to the road closures, ETS buses will also be affected as of 8:30 a.m. Regular service on Jasper Avenue will resume at approximately 2 p.m., and regular service on 104 Avenue will resume at approximately 5 p.m.
Road closures will also be in place around the Ice District.
Parking restrictions
Parking restrictions will also be in place starting at noon on Sunday at the following locations:
- Edmonton Police Services Headquarters – Downtown Division at 9620 103a Ave;
- Along the procession route (listed above);
- 109 Street from 97 Avenue to 104 Avenue;
- 99 Avenue from 106 Street to 109 Street;
- CN Tower on 104 Avenue from 99 Street to 100 Street;
- 103 Street from 105 Avenue to 106 Avenue;
- 105 Avenue at 102 Street;
- 102 Street north of 105 Avenue.
Regimental funeral
A regimental funeral and celebration of their lives will take place at Rogers Place beginning at 1 p.m.
Access to Rogers Place for the funeral will be limited to family, special guests, EPS members and supporters from within law enforcement, emergency services, and military communities.
The regimental funeral will begin with the singing of the national anthem.
It will be followed by eulogies for both Jordan and Ryan, and a tribute from EPS Chief Dale McFee.
There will also be a minute of silence for the fallen officers.
The funeral is expected to end around 2:45 p.m.
Anyone attending the funeral in person is asked not to bring backpacks, briefcases, or other large items.
