Police investigating death of 24-year-old after report of gunshots in southeast Edmonton

Edmonton police are investigating the suspicious death of a 24-year-old man after gunshots were reportedly heard Saturday night.

Police say they received a report around 8:40 p.m. that shots were fired near 51 Street and 13 Avenue, in southeast Edmonton.

Officers arrived to find a man sitting in a vehicle “in medical distress.”

Police administered CPR but the man was declared dead on the scene.

Homicide detectives are investigating.

Police are looking for information about a suspect vehicle – possibly an SUV. It was spotted leaving the area, driving southbound on 50 Street.

Police are asking residents to check their CCTV cameras or dashcam footage for any suspicious activity around that time.

An autopsy has been scheduled for Wednesday.
