Driver strikes two parked EPS cruisers, impaired driving charges pending

A driver who may have been impaired slammed into a parked Edmonton police cruiser, causing it to collide into a second cruiser early Sunday morning.

The incident occurred just before 7 a.m. near 108 Avenue and 97 Street.

Police officers were walking toward a residence when the driver of a BMW hit the first police car, which then crashed into the second.

All three vehicles were damaged.

Police say the male driver sustained minor injuries. He was arrested on the scene and taken to hospital.

“Thankfully, no officers were injured,” said Cheryl Sheppard of EPS in an email.

“Charges related to impaired driving are pending against the driver.”
