Dr. Deena Hinshaw to address province Thursday in COVID-19 update

EDMONTON (660 NEWS) – Chief Medical Officer of Health Dr. Deena Hinshaw will be back to her regular provincial COVID-19 update this afternoon.
She is set to speak at 3:30 p.m. and her update will be carried live on 660 NEWS.
The province identified 2,272 new cases in Wednesday’s update with 903 of those cases being variants of concern.

There are 24,156 active cases of the virus throughout Alberta, and 59.4 per cent are variant cases.
As of Wednesday, there were 666 people in the hospital with 146 in the ICU.
Three additional deaths were also reported.
This comes as COVID-19 vaccine eligibility opened to more Albertans today.
Thousands of people already have their vaccine appointment booked with many more still to come.

Starting on Monday, May 10, even more Albertans will be able to get the jab as people 12 and older will be eligible.
