CALGARY (660 NEWS) – Despite the province’s economic woes, it appears more people are moving to Alberta, than moving away.
New data released this week from Statistics Canada showed the trends for interprovincial migration in the third quarter of this year.
For Alberta, nearly 2,300 people emigrated to the province.
That’s the highest number in four years after several quarters of declines and a rebound in the third quarter of 2018.
Alberta’s population currently sits at just over 4.4 million residents.
Meanwhile, Ontario had the highest migration number with over 2,900 people moving there.
The numbers are in stark contrast to Manitoba and Saskatchewan, where more than 3,000 people left each province, the most since the early 1990s.
