Construction begins on NAIT’s advanced skills centre

Construction has begun on the future advanced skills centre of the Northern Alberta Institute of Technology (NAIT) in Edmonton.
Ground was broken Tuesday on the 625,000-square-foot facility – what’s being described as the largest project in NAIT’s history.
It’s expected to cost $779 million. The province is contributing $384 million over three years to the project.
The advanced skills facility will house 29 skilled trades programs, from construction to energy. It will have learning spaces designed to mirror real worksites.
The centre is expected to allow NAIT to train an additional 5,500 students each year.
It’s slated to open in the fall of 2030.
