Police seek final suspect in Whyte Ave group assault

Edmonton police are looking for the seventh and final suspect sought in connection with the group assault of a 36-year-old man on Whyte Ave earlier this summer.

The Edmonton Police Service says shortly before midnight on July 4, the victim was assaulted by a group of seven men near 108 Street. He was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries and has since been released.

Six suspects have been arrested. The outstanding suspect is being described as having a medium build, short- or medium-length black hair, with large dark tattoos on his left forearm and left bicep.

Police believe he frequents the University of Alberta and Whyte Avenue areas of Edmonton.

“Investigators have made significant progress in this case, however one suspect remains unidentified,” said Cst. James Henderson. “We are asking anyone who recognizes this individual or has information about his identity to come forward. Even small details could be a big help for our investigators.”
