EPCOR working to make temporary bypass to repair sinkhole in Lauderdale community

EPCOR says its crews are continuing to work on repairing a sinkhole that occurred at 107 Street and 130 Avenue.
Officials say the first step in the repair strategy is to have bypass hoses put in place, so wastewater can be safely directed to the wastewater treatment plant while repairs are underway.
This requires a 10-foot-diameter shaft and numerous temporary access points to connect the bypass to the wastewater collection system.
Intense rainfall has caused some delays to the building of the bypass.
Once the bypass is in place, work on the repair will be able to begin.
Additionally, EPCOR told CityNews that work will also be done at 120 Street and 108 Avenue, where repairs are needed for a shallow pipe that conveys wastewater flows to the wastewater treatment plant.
