Edmonton’s Killarney School sustains roof damage, flooding in overnight storm

The storm that drenched Edmonton overnight created havoc for one north side school.

Killarney School, a junior high school, sustained damage to its roof.

It happened around 2:30 a.m. Wednesday, a spokesperson for Edmonton Public Schools told CityNews.

“Part of the school’s roof has been damaged and there’s flooding inside of the school,” the spokesperson wrote in an email. “The school is receiving support from Division Infrastructure, Security and custodial services.”

“Staff and families are asked to stay away from the school while the Division assesses the damage.”

EPSB says Edmonton Fire Rescue Services, a custodial consultant and security guard responded to the school overnight.

North Edmonton suffered the worst of the storm, with heavy rain and winds leading to flooding.
