Edmonton collectible store broken into for a second time

Break-in during Canada Day at a collectible store in North Edmonton. This is the second break-in incident to the business in less than 10 months.

Glass shards spread across the floor and a display case completely ransacked.

That was the scene at north Edmonton store ENV Collectible after a suspect or suspects made off with Pokémon and One Piece trading cards.

The shop took to social media Wednesday, sharing photos and a video of the Canada Day break-in.

“We’re incredibly disheartened to share that we’ve experienced our second break in in less than 10 months,” the store’s Instagram post reads. “It’s been a tough morning, but we want to assure everyone that no one was hurt and for that, we are truly grateful.

“Please keep an eye out for any suspicious items.”

Edmonton police say they are “aware and are currently investigating,” adding there have been nine break-ins reported at collectible, hobby and card stores this year.

CityNews spoke to the owner of ENV Collectible after the first break-in last November. The store lost $40,000 and increased security in the aftermath.

Edmonton police recommends store owners take crime prevention training and review safety tips on their website.
