Police have laid charges against an Alberta man in connection with assaults on an Edmonton resident who disappeared more than two decades ago and has not been seen since.
The Edmonton Police Service announced Tuesday that 54-year-old Kevin Wade Moroz of Two Hills County has been charged with aggravated assault and assault with a weapon. The charges stem from alleged assaults on Gerald Geake between April and May 2002.

Investigators say Geake, who was 37 years old at the time, was reported missing in the spring of 2003 after friends realized they had not heard from him since May 2002.
According to police, Geake was assaulted at a residence in south Edmonton shortly before he was last seen. Investigators believe he left the home with Moroz and another individual and has not been seen or heard from since.
Police continue to treat Geake’s disappearance as suspicious and say efforts to determine his whereabouts have so far been unsuccessful.
Gerald was 5’10” and approximately 160 lbs at the time of his disappearance. He had a mullet style blonde hair cut and blue eyes and he may have appeared injured or incapacitated to anyone who saw him.
Investigators are appealing to the public for information that could help advance the case.
Police also released information about a black 1992 GMC Sierra believed to have been driven by Moroz around the time of Geake’s disappearance. Investigators say the vehicle may have been seen in Edmonton’s Avonmore neighbourhood in May 2002.

Anyone with information about Geake’s disappearance or the vehicle is asked to contact the Edmonton Police Service.
