Northwest Edmonton garage fire spreads to vacant home

Firefighters put out a garage fire in a vacant home in Edmonton's Woodcroft neighbourhood early Wednesday morning. Lauren Boothby reports.

A garage fire on Woodcroft Avenue early Wednesday morning extended into the vacant home, Edmonton Fire Rescue Services told CityNews.

EFRS was called to the residential structure fire near 135 Street and Woodcroft Avenue at 5:31 a.m. Firefighters arrived to find the garage on fire.

The blaze was declared under control at 6:33 a.m.

EFRS tells CityNews fire crews remain at work to ensure the fire is fully extinguished.

There were no reported injuries.

Fire investigators were on scene to determine a cause.
