Edmonton police say a 65-year-old woman is dead after her own vehicle reportedly struck her “as it rolled back” on Sunday afternoon.
The incident is believed to be non-criminal in nature, the Edmonton Police Service says.
It happened around 2:30 p.m. near 142 Street and 92A Avenue.
Police say the woman had stepped out of the driver’s side of her vehicle, when she was then struck by it. It’s not clear what exactly led to the vehicle rolling backwards.
People nearby attempted to help the woman, according to EPS, but she died of her injuries at the scene.
The EPS major collision investigations section is continuing to investigate.
