Baby dead, toddler missing after Central Alberta house fire

By Lisa Grant

RCMP in central Alberta say one baby has died and a toddler is missing after a house fire in Brazeau County.

The fire broke out Thursday around noon just north of the Village of Breton, about an hour southwest of Edmonton.

A woman and two children managed to escape, but with the house fully engulfed, firefighters weren’t able to rescue the two children inside.

The body of an 11-month-old has since been recovered, but crews haven’t been able to find the two-year-old.

So far, RCMP say it appears the fire is not suspicious, but investigators are trying to determine a cause.
