Edmonton woman among 2 dead in head-on highway crash in Sturgeon County

Police say two people were killed in a head-on highway collision northeast of Edmonton on Tuesday morning.

A 59-year-old woman from Edmonton and 64-year-old from Radway were declared dead on the scene, according to Redwater RCMP. Both were the drivers and sole occupants of their SUVs.

Police say the collision happened on Highway 2 near Range Road 223, west of Redwater, around 5:40 a.m.

Authorities believe road and weather conditions could have been factors in the collision.
