Locations revealed of 10 new Edmonton schools previously announced in Alberta budget

High oil prices dominating the budget discussion Monday inside Alberta's Legislature — as prices at the pump soar due to the war in Iran. It comes as Alberta's government also touting eight new schools in the capital city.

Edmontonians now know where the 10 school projects previously announced by the Alberta government – eight new schools and two replacement schools – will be located.

The 10 public-school projects are being funding through Alberta’s 2026 budget.

They will belong to three school divisions: Edmonton Public Schools (four new schools); Edmonton Catholic Schools (two new, one replacement); and Conseil scolaire Centre-Nord (two new, one replacement).

The province calculates the projects will create or renovate more than 8,400 student spaces.

“Budget 2026 is building schools where Edmonton families need them most – investing in new and replacement schools that give students modern, well-equipped classrooms closer to home as the city continues to grow,” said Demetrios Nicolaides, Alberta’s minister of education and child care.
