Two schools in Sherwood Park were put on alert Wednesday morning following a weapons complaint that authorities later determined was unfounded.
Bev Facey Community High was placed on lockdown and F.R. Haythorne Junior High was placed in a hold-and-secure, Mounties said.
“Police quickly attended and searched the area,” Strathcona County RCMP said.
Officers located the purported suspect and confirmed there was no firearm or offences committed.
The lockdown and hold-and-secure status on the schools was then lifted.
Mounties received a report of an individual with a possible firearm in their pocket at the Strathcona Athletic Park at 9:52 a.m.
