Canadian Armed Forces to conduct annual road moves starting Sunday

The Canadian Armed Forces (CAF) announced that it will conduct its annual movement of equipment and personnel from Edmonton to Yellowknife starting Sunday.
The movement called “Operation NANOOK-NUNALIVUT” 2026 will take place during daytime from Sunday, Feb. 8 to next Tuesday, Feb. 11.
“Operation NANOOK-NUNALIVUT is an annual, regularly scheduled winter serial of Op NANOOK that demonstrates the Canadian Armed Forces ability to project and sustain forces in the High Arctic under the harshest conditions, while assessing new capabilities and interoperability with Allies,” CAF said in a press release, Friday.
A convoy of vehicles will travel along several highways:
- Northwest on Highway 43
- North on Highway 48
- North on Highway
- North on Highway 35
- North on Highway 1 (Mackenzie Highway)
- Northeast on Highway 3 (Frontier Trail).
Drivers are asked to exercise caution near these vehicles.
The convoys are not expected to disrupt traffic and will move in small groups.
