Man may have fired weapon inside West Edmonton Mall, triggering lockdown: police

For the second time in one week, Edmonton Police had to surround West Edmonton Mall. James Dunn has more on the latest incident and what caused the first one.

Police are investigating reports that a man discharged what appeared to be a firearm at another man inside the West Edmonton Mall on Thursday afternoon.

The possible shooting triggered a brief lockdown at the mall that has since been lifted.

“There is no further danger to the public,” the Edmonton Police Service said.

Police were called at 12:24 p.m. about two men walking near the Bourbon Street area of the mall when one of them reportedly fired at the other.

No injuries were reported.

Edmonton police are continuing to investigate.
